Aquaman Brings Over A Thousand Jobs And Then Some To Australia

With the pre-production phase of Aquaman nearing its end, we will probably get word of it enter the principal photography stage of filmmaking process. And the principal photography, filming, of the film will take place in Australia.

Aquaman will be filming in South East Queensland on the Gold Coast area known as Surfers Paradise and over at the Village Roadshow Studios in Gold Coast, Australia, and will bring 1200 jobs and AUS$150 million ($111 million) to the local economy with a AUS$22 million Australian dollars ($16.32 million) grant given by the Federal Treasurer Scott Morrison.

“Making movies is core business for the Gold Coast, supporting jobs and businesses throughout the region. Our decision to back in Thor was a marvel and so will be our decision to back Aquaman,” Mr Morrison said of the once-off grant.

“Queensland was successful in winning a competitive bid to attract Aquaman contributing to our reputation as a leading film destination,” said Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

Jason Momoa plays the titular role, Arthur Curry, he will be joined by Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm, and Willem Dafoe as Vulko. Aquaman is set for a October 5th, 2018 date directed by James Wan.
